15K Program
Recently SB 7 allowed for employers to pay for the first $15,000 of medical bills for medical only claims. The program is simple to enroll in as the employer need only contact the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) telephonically at 1-800-OHIO BWC option #2. Once enrolled, the employer is responsible for the bills in all medical-only claims with injury dates after the enrollment effective date.
V&A assists its clients by managing the 15K program and providing the following services:
• Provide notification letter and incident packet to providers and MCOs.
• Receive medical bills directly from providers and/or Client.
• Consult with Employer upon receipt of medical bills.
• Inform BWC if claim is 5k or payable by the BWC.
• Utilize BWC’s UCR schedule for all certified medical bills.
• Forward check registers to client for approval and account funding.
• Process checks and remit to provider.
• Provide reporting for cost savings related to the UCR schedule.
• Document and store all necessary claim data specified by BWC.
