Drug Free Workplace Program
The Drug Free Workplace Program (DFWP) is designed
for Ohio State Fund employers who are committed to developing a
substance-free workplace. The BWC is providing 10 – 20% discounts
for employers that make the commitment to drug testing and employee
assistance programs, depending upon the level of the program.
The employer must adopt and implement the BWC’s
DFWP policy and programs. The plan emphasizes post accident and
random drug testing (at Levels 2 & 3), management-level involvement
and communication between employees and management as well as the
establishment of employee assistance programs and substance abuse
assessments. Additionally, at the higher levels, the plan includes
implementation of the BWC’s 10 point Business Plan, orientation
and training, record-keeping, and data analysis.
The employer has the potential of five discount
years if it currently does not have the equivalent of a Level I
drug free program. Employers that have a program are eligible for
four discount years, provided that their program has not existed
for over four years. Employers can remain at whatever level best
satisfies their needs for as many years as they are eligible.
V&A will conduct a savings analysis to determine
the premium savings each client will realize by enrolling in the
DFWP program. Additionally, V&A will assist employers in the
enrollment process as well as provide employers with referrals
to organizations specializing in drug testing and training. Additionally,
V&A will assist its clients with the safety grant applications,
to expedite the process.
