Executive Bios
James M. Vassar, PHR
President
Jim Vassar’s career in the workers’ compensation
industry began in 1992 when he was hired as a marketing representative
for OCS Management Corporation. During his career with OCS and
subsequently The ASU Group, Jim served as Director of Operations,
Vice President and lastly Vice President, Claims Services. Jim’s
primary duties focused on client and staff retention as well as
handling the administrative duties of the company.
Jim graduated from The Ohio State University
with a BS in Business Administration. In 1999 he passed the Professional
Human Resources (PHR) certification and in 2005, Jim received the
"20 under 40" Leadership Award. He is an acting board member of
the Workers’ Comp Forum and the Past President of the Toledo Area
Human Resources Association. Jim is also a proud member of the
Toledo
Rotary Club and presently serves on the Vocational Services Committee.
Deb Sandusky
Vice President
Deb has been involved in the workers compensation
field since 1982 where she began as a litigation specialist for
a large workers compensation law firm. She began her employment
with OCS Management Corporation in August of 1986 as a hearing
representative. From that position, she transferred to the self
insurance department wherein she was promoted to the manager in
1992. In 1995, Deb assumed the role of Director of Claims managing
both the state fund and self-insurance departments.
As Vice President of V&A, Deb has been instrumental
in establishing quality standards, developing upgrades in V&A’s
claims system and assisting clients in their efforts to obtain
self-insurance. Deb also is responsible for the training and development
of V&A’s professional staff.
In addition to her managerial duties, Deb has
been actively managing employer’s workers’ compensation accounts
throughout her career. Deb holds an Associates Degree in Legal
Assisting and a Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management,
both from the University of Toledo. Deb is a member of the Northwest
Ohio Self-Insurers' and also, the Ohio Self-Insurers' Association.
